GSCA National Specialty 2001- Trip Out
Allentown, Pennsylvania
Hosted by the Brandywine Gordon Setter Club
As I mentioned, the patriotism levels soared as we drove from
Wisconsin to Pennsylvania. We had great weather on the way out and
the roads were good. It was a fun trip. We anxiously awaited
the upcoming specialty and a chance to meet and visit with Gordon Setter
friends.
- We were so impressed with the show
of patriotism and unity throughout our travels to
Pennsylvania. This
was evident everywhere….flags…banners and even the signs
at the toll booths…

- This sign reminded me of those
people in New York who lost their lives on Tuesday, September
11, 2001. As we continued toward Pennsylvania,
Interstate 80 signs pointed us east toward New York City.
|
- Greg and I loaded up the RV and we
left on Friday, September 14, 2001 from Wisconsin. We
spent the evening at the home of friends Ron and Dee Vayda (Shojin).
We left early on the 15th and continued on toward
Pennsylvania.

|
- We drove as far as Bloomsburg, PA
on Saturday evening. The colonial architecture is
evident in this structure.
|
- Wherever Greg and I travel, we know
that Wal-Marts allow RV travelers to park in their lots
overnight. We stopped and shopped at the Wal-Mart in
Bloomburg, PA. Again, the flag at half-mast was
indicative of the crisis in the United States.
- Our friends, Peter and
Christine Sandiford of the United Kingdom called us and told
us they were at the host hotel in Allentown, waiting for us to
arrive. They were only delayed one day due to 9/11
events.

|
- Our trip on Sunday, September 16,
2001 from Bloomsburg to Allentown, was relatively short.
We knew we were close when we saw these signs!!
|
- The host hotel was located on
Bulldog Drive. Pictured here is the cross-street we
turned down to get to the hotel.
|
|
|
- The Days Inn Conference and
Convention Center welcome us to their hotel.
